A hospital classroom is a space in which children can behave as what they are: children. We believe that giving back their schooling, the socialization implicit in it, the responsibilities, duties and rights in which they had been immersed is to rescue for them and their parents the essence of the child. In this way we contribute to the comprehensive development of hospitalized children, providing them with emotional, social and family stability, facilitating their reintegration into the environment and school at the end of their treatment.
The starting point is an evaluation to place children based on their abilities, physical condition and schooling.
Development of previously prepared activities, which are related to the degree curriculum. For a hospitalized child we apply the learning of basic knowledge, considering the level and area.
In beds and on tables, with multigrade groups, work is done in a personalized way. The educational task of Social Communication and Mathematical Logic. The Social Personal and Science and Environment projects are worked on in groups, at the tables and in the beds, according to the condition of the children. The explanation of the topics is appropriate to the age of the children.
The educational assistant manages to reach the children from the first moment the educational activity begins, with conversations, puppets, riddles, comments, motivating the child to be interested. This has its limitations due to the condition of the children, but there is a lot of initial work on the part of the educational assistants to generate a relationship of mutual support between the children that can be maintained after classes have ended.
This occurs in the preparation of the learning sessions and in the different topics of the projects that are applicable for children in hospitalization.
For the development of our work, the participation of hospital staff who care for children is very important: doctors, nurses, technicians, who often promote the participation of children. Parents who accompany their children also participate by encouraging them and getting involved in the topic.
